March Tour Newsletter

Hi everyone and welcome to another adventure filled year with Rixon’s Tours.

We finished the year 2018 off well with our annual pilgrimage to the Hunter Valley Christmas Lights being as spectacular as always – yes, we have booked our rooms again for 2019 so start considering this tour now to avoid disappointment.

Jersey Boys show was as good as anticipated and the trip helped initiate our new employee Katrina (Kat) into the joys of being a hostess. It was good that she only had a small group to practice on and to my understanding was a resounding success. We might just allow her to play hostess on a few other tours later in the year.

Marina Prior was LIVE at Mona Farm in Braidwood with the Canberra Windsong Symphony. What a fantastic night. A tad on the cool side but watching Marina in her element was well worth it.

Norfolk Island Tour Christmas in July theme 27 June – 6 July 2019. Those that have been lucky enough to book their place can expect a fun time as always on Norfolk Island. We have a standby list available for late bookings.

Lightning Ridge – according to our guests this tour was fantastic. Enough free time was allowed for everyone to get their ‘nanna’ nap or shopping splurge in and all the venues were interesting.  Barbara the Tour Guide brought Lightning Ridge alive with her commentaries and everyone was very impressed by the meals at the Bowling Club. The morning tea at the Honey Haven Mudgee was delectable. Red Hill Mining Precinct was very interesting with most of the guests panning for gold and precious stones which they were able to keep as a memento.

Melbourne International Flower show – Unfortunately this tour is not going ahead this year. We will see how things go for organising this next year.

Brigadoon at Bundanoon – The Scottish know how to throw a party and this event is no different. This tour is now closed and we look forward to hearing about all the fun of the games, the pipes & the drums. We have a standby list available for late bookings, so contact us if you want to go. You never know.

Bright/Wangaratta Autumn Festival – The Autumn colours will be spectacular, the people friendly and the food and wine refreshing. Venture with us into Ned Kelly country and learn more about this bad boy of Australian history. It could be a tad chilly so bring your winter woollies. We have a standby list available for late bookings.

Murray River Cruise on the Murray Princess paddle steamer. Enjoy our colourful land from the windows of our luxury coach and the deck of the paddle steamer. Stopping along the way to experience what this country has to offer. This tour is filling nicely with only a few seats still available, book now to avoid disappointment. Lounge on the deck of the paddle steamer and watch the world go by.

The Winery Tours have been spread over 3 different months next year to give you a chance to attend at least one. The winery tour in May would be an ideal Mothers Day present. I have varied the days to try to accommodate those still in the work force or for adult family groups looking for that bonding time. Let us worry about the breathalyzers, you sit back & relax.

Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo – for all you Scots and wannabe Scots out there, this is a must to add to your ‘booked on’ calendar this year. Being held in October in Sydney we have an overnight stay prior to watching this energetic extravaganza. This tour is fully booked, however, there is a waiting list for those that missed out. Just call and let us know if you are interested.

The Q Theatre Queanbeyan have outdone themselves this year with an extraordinary variety of drama and musical shows to choose from. From The Sapphires to The Full Monty to Hello Dolly to Cheek to Cheek to The Divine Miss Bette – you are spoilt for choice. Book now to secure your seat.

Canberra Theatre & The Playhouse Theatre – Shows appearing at these venues include the ageless Leo Sayer, a touch of old in the Nashville Grand ‘Ole Opry, the Whitlams, The Ten Tenors, Drama – Shakespeare in Love, Much A Do about Nothing and The 39 Steps. Tickets are selling well so book now to avoid disappointment.

WIN Stadium Wollongong – We have ventured into unknown territory here and so far it is proving to be a success. With the likes of Bryan Adams, Charley Pride & Human Nature on offer and tickets sales going well we are sure to be looking for more shows at this venue in the near future.
